Bentley Closes Out Post in 6-3 Victory

 

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley women's tennis team won for the second time in three matches with a 6-3 non-conference victory over Post on Sunday afternoon.

Junior Rachel Hui (Hong Kong), senior Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) and freshman Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mound Westonka) each won two matches to help propel the Falcons to the victory.

Hui and Welty first combined for an 8-2 win in No. 2 doubles, which improved their doubles record to 6-1 on the season. Brandow teamed with Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) for an 8-2 victory in No. 3 doubles.

In singles, Hui got the better of Brianna Miah 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 2 match, while Welty swept aside Jessica Bergen 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 4 match. Brandow's second win of the day came via a 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 win in the No. 5 match.

Senior Alexia Petruzziello (North Haven, Conn./North Haven) breezed past Becca Gelman 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.

The win improved the Falcons' record to 6-2. They return to Northeast-10 play on Tuesday when they host Assumption.
