Roberts Wesleyan Slips Past Bentley, 5-4

FRANKLIN, Mass. – Visiting Roberts Wesleyan used an early advantage of doubles to clip the Bentley University women's tennis team in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon, 5-4.

The Redhawks led 2-1 after the doubles matches, which came in handy as the teams split the singles matches 3-3.

Bentley's point in doubles came in the No. 3 match, from the team of Kayla Anghinetti (Seekonk, Mass./Bishop Feehan) and Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport), 8-3. The two matches that the Redhawks won couldn't have been closer. They took the No. 1 match in a tiebreak, 8-7 (7-5) over Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) and Katie Tynan (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable). The No. 2 match was just as close, with Roberts Wesleyan winning it 9-7 over Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) and Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville).

Bentley's wins in singles came from Suchanek, Tynan and Jill Kamphaus (Walpole, Mass./Ursuline Academy). Suchanek was a 6-4, 6-3 winner in the No. 3 match, Tynan took the No. 4 match, 7-5, 6-4, and Kamphaus won the No. 6 match.

The Falcons fell to 13-8 on the season. They're back on the courts next Sunday to visit Endicott.
