Bentley Splits on Final Day of Spring Break Trip

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University women's tennis team split two matches on the final day of its Florida spring break trip. The Falcons swept Albany State 9-0, and dropped an 8-1 decision to Southern Indiana.

Bentley's sweep of Albany State was its 4th win of the trip, as five players won in both singles and doubles. In singles action, Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift) and Alexia Petruzziello (North Haven, Conn./North Haven) each dropped just one game in their matches. In the No. 2 and No. 4 matches, they were both 6-0, 6-1 winners. Senior Kayla Anghinetti (Seekonk, Mass./Bishop Feehan) likewise cruised, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 5 match. Junior Rachel Hui (Hong Kong/St. Rose of Lima's) was victorious in the No. 1 match, by a 6-3, 6-2 score.

In doubles, Bentley took the No. 1 and No. 3 matches 8-0. Von Oldenburg and Katie Tynan (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable) teamed in the No. 1 match, and Petruzziello and Rachel Madden (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) teamed in the No. 3 match. Madden won both of her matches as well after a 6-1, 6-4 win in No. 6 singles.

Against Southern Indiana, Bentley's point came from Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) in No. 2 singles. She defeated her opponent, Brenna Wu, in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.

The Falcons will return north with an overall record of 13-7, after they went 4-2 in Florida this week. The team returns to the courts on March 25, when they host Roberts Wesleyan at the Adirondack Club in Franklin, Mass.
