Suchanek Rallies to Give Bentley Deciding Point in 5-4 Win over Merrimack

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley women's tennis team earned a big 5-4 victory over Merrimack on Saturday afternoon as freshman Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) provided the winning point with a three-set rally in No. 3 singles.

Playing against Merrimack's Lauren Person, Suchanek dropped the first set 6-2. But Suchanek turned it around that the opening set, and rallied in the next two sets 6-3, 6-4 to provide the deciding point for the Falcons.

The win, which improved Bentley's record to 8-3 in Northeast-10 matches, puts them in prime position to clinch a playoff spot with one match left.

Merrimack emerged from doubles with a 2-1 lead, with Bentley winning the No. 2 match with Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington HS) and Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport HS) taking it 8-6.

While the Warriors took the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, Bentley claimed the No. 3-No. 6 matches. Freshman Katie Tynan (West Barnstable/Barnstable HS) was a 6-2, 6-2 winner in the No. 4 match, while senior Susan Stowe (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) took a 6-0, 6-4 victory in the No. 5 match. The No. 6 match saw Brandow cruise 6-1, 6-1.

With just one match left in the regular season, Bentley will welcome in Le Moyne next Wednesday at 1:00 pm.
