Bentley Sweeps Past New Haven for 3rd Straight

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Bentley University swept to its 3rd straight win on Saturday afternoon as they defeated New Haven 9-0 in a Northeast-10 women's tennis match. Three different players won two matches on the day.

The Falcons staked themselves to a commanding lead with a sweep of the doubles matches. The No. 1 pair of Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) and Katie Tynan (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable HS) set the tone with an 8-2 win. While the No. 2 match, Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull HS) and Alexia Petruzzielo (North Haven, Conn./North Haven HS) were 8-3 winners, and in the No. 3 match, Susan Stowe (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) and Kayla Anghinetti (Seekonk, Mass./Bishop Feehan) were 8-1 winners.

In singles, Bentley had three players win their matches 6-0, 6-0. Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington HS) in the No. 2 match, Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville HS) in the No. 3 spot and Stowe in the No. 5 spot. Petruzzielo, one of the three that had two wins on the day along with Petrini and Stowe, dropped just one game in her No. 6 match, 6-1, 6-0.

The Falcons are now 4-2, both overall and in NE-10 play. They're back on the courts tomorrow to take on Adelphi for a 10 am match.
