Bentley Drops Spring Break Finale to Eckerd 9-0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Bentley women's tennis team wrapped up its spring break trip on Saturday against Eckerd College, but dropped a 9-0 decision to the Tritons in a non-conference match. The Falcons will head back north with an overall record of 6-4.

Eckerd swept doubles play by dropping only seven games. In singles play, freshman Rachel Petrini (Madison, Con./Daniel Hand) and Melanie Scott (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) each had close calls in the first set of their respective singles matches before falling 7-5. Petrini took on Emily Fridrik in the fourth-flight, and Scott played Amy Naula in the fifth-flight. But both Fridrik and Naula emerged victorious after winning the second set.

Sophomore Brittany Hetyei (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) pushed Erika Fridrik to three sets in the third-flight match, but dropped a 6-0, 6-7 (4-7), 10-6 decision.

The Falcons return to the courts next Friday when they visit Brandeis.
