No. 18 Florida Tech Tops Bentley 9-0

Melbourne, Fla. – No. 18 Florida Tech won its fifth straight match Thursday, defeating Bentley University 9-0 in a non-conference women's tennis match at the Suntree Tennis Club in Melbourne.

The Panthers swept doubles play and won all six in singles. In the second-flight doubles match, Florida Tech's Chloe Chanley and Jessica Widmark defeated Bentley's Catherine Gianino (Burlington, Mass./Burlington) and Brittani Hetyei (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) 8-4. In singles play, junior Melanie Scott (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) pushed her fourth-flight match against freshman Meritt Rabson to three sets, before ultimately falling in a close one 6-0, 4-6, 10-7.

Bentley, now 5-3 on the season, continues its trip on Friday against UMass-Boston in Kissimmee.
