Stonehill Defeats Women's Tennis 7-2

WALTHAM, Mass. – In a matchup of two teams that have already clinched spots in the upcoming Northast-10 women's tennis playoffs, Stonehill defeated Bentley University 7-2 on Tuesday afternoon.

Stonehill grabbed a 2-1 advantage from the doubles matches by winning the No. 1 and No. 3 matches. Bentley took the No. 2 match, with seniors Rachael Litton (Burlington, Ontario/Nelson) and Paulina Sotomayor (San Antonio, Texas/Ronald Reagan) defeating Kaitlyn Martin and Chelsea Haedrich 8-3.

In singles it was Stonehill taking five of six points, though freshman Ludmila Yamus (Deer Park, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) was victorious in the No. 1 match over Bailey Paradiso. Yamus took the first set 6-3, and fought off a comeback by Paradiso in the second set to eventually win 7-6.

Sophomore Stephania Adondakis (Salt Lake City, Utah/Waterford School) took Haedrich to three sets in the No. 6 match, but dropped the decisive set 10-5 as Haedrich won the match 6-2, 6-7, 10-5.

Bentley's record goes to 8-7 overall and 7-3 in NE-10 play, while the Skyhawks improve to 16-3 and 9-1. The Falcons are back in action Thursday when they play at Saint Anselm.
