Bentley Improves to 5-0 with 8-1 Victory over New Haven

WALTHAM, Mass. – Led by four players that won in both singles and doubles, the Bentley University women's tennis team improved to 5-0 both overall and in the Northeast-10 Conference with an 8-1 victory over New Haven on Monday afternoon.

The Falcons complete the NE-10 portion of their fall schedule having dropped just two points in five matches, and they'll head into the spring with an unblemished conference mark thanks to today's victory.

The four players to record two wins were all freshman; Ludmila Yamus (Deer Park, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East), Catherine Gianino (Burlington, Mass./Burlington), Brittani Hetyei (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) and Olga Kosheva (Port Washington, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber).

Yamus and Gianino defeated Samantha Nigri and Martha Petzoldt in second-flight doubles 8-1, and Hetyei and Kosheva beat Christina Santos and Jessica MacPhee in the third-flight 8-1.

While those four all were victorious in singles as well, the other two singles matches for Bentley were won by senior Rachael Litton (Burlington, Ontario/Nelson) and sophomore Melanie Scott (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug). Litton bested Nigri in the second-flight 6-4, 6-0, and Scott blanked Petzoldt in the fourth-flight 6-0, 6-0.

Bentley will play its final match of the fall season on Wednesday at Simmons.
