Hodsdon Closes Out Career with 12th-Place Finish at NCAAs

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Bentley University senior Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/Brewer HS) closed out a stellar collegiate career by finishing 12th in the 100 yard breaststroke Friday night during the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the CrossPlex Complex.

Hodsdon, who earned honorable mention All-America accolades with her performance, posted a time of 1:04.39 to finish fourth in the consolation finals after missing out on the championship finals by just eight-hundredths of a second earlier on Friday. Her time in the prelims was a season-best 1:04.15.

During the consolation finals, Hodsdon was second entering the final turn before slipping a couple positions over the final 25 yards.

Hodsdon earned All-America honors in the 100 breast with a sixth-place finish in 2011 and she placed 25th at the 2012 nationals.

The NCAA championships conclude tomorrow with newly-minted All-America Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) competing in the three-meter diving.
