Another Strong Day for Bentley Women at NEISDA Championships; Kaduboski Earns 2 More Golds

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -- Day two of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships turned out to be another impressive performance for the Bentley University women's swimming team, which will take a lead of 193.5 points into Sunday's final day of competition at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center.

With senior Anne Kaduboski (Dedham, Mass./Dedham HS) turning in another standout performance, Bentley earned four golds, two silvers and two bronze medals while breaking a half-dozen school records.

Kaduboski captured her ninth career individual gold in the 400 yard individual medley, with her NCAA "B" cut time of 4:31.40 breaking her own school record by 4.38 seconds. She dominated the race, touching the wall nearly 11 seconds before runner-up Amy Arisco of Eastern Connecticut State.

That came shortly after she combined with sophomores Taryn Dooley (Agawam, Mass./Feeding Hills HS), Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/Brewer HS) and Monika Drogosz (Unionville, Conn./ Farmington HS) for a school record time of 1:48.17 in the 200 medley relay, good for second place. That bettered the standard set two weeks ago at the Northeast-10 Championships by 0.22 seconds. Dooley staked the foursome to a great start with her 28.32 lead off a school record for the 50 backstroke.

\In the final women's race of the night, Kaduboski teamed with three freshmen as Bentley took gold in the 800 free relay. Amy Shin (Lancaster, Mass,/Nashoba Reg. HS), Heather Exley (Oceanside, Calif./Vista HS) and Kellen Power (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian HS) followed her into the pool, and their winning effort of 7:55.60 lowered the school record 0.44 seconds.

Power and Hodsdon also earned individual gold, with each achieving a "B" cut and a school record. Power was first to the wall in the 200 freestyle, her time of 1:55.65 a new Bentley standard by 0.18 seconds. Hodsdon repeated as 100 breaststroke champ, lowering her own school record 0.83 seconds to 1:04.78.

Dooley earned silver in the 100 backstroke (1:00.66) and the Falcons received third-place showings from Shin in the 50 butterfly (27.45) and freshman Erin Campbell (Marshfield, Mass./ Marshfield HS) in the 100 breast (1:07.10).

Bentley finished the second day of competition with 1002 points. Keene State is a distant second at 808.5, and Assumption is third with 641. A total of 21 teams are participating in the championships.

Sunday's action will have the prelims at 10 am and finals at 5:30 pm.
