Four Bentley Players Earn NEWISA All-New England Honors

Waltham, Mass. – Four players from the Bentley University women's soccer team earned Division II All-New England honors from the NEWISA.

Senior center back Riane Hunt (Millis, Mass./Millis) and junior goalkeeper Kat Hassapis (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) were selected to the first team. Junior forward Emma Guccione (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) and sophomore midfielder Dana Goulet (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) were both selected to the second team.

The quartet helped the Falcons to a highly successful season that saw them selected to the NCAA Tournament for the first time, and also advanced to the NE10 semifinals.

Hunt was the leading vote getter at the defender position for the Division II All-New England teams. She played every minute of Bentley's 20 games this season and helped lead a defense that posted 10 shutouts on the season. This is Hunt's fourth recognition of the postseason. She was previously named first team All-East Region by the United Soccer Coaches, first team All-NE10 and second team All-East Region by the Conference Commissioner's Association.

Hassapis was the leading vote getter at the goalkeeper position after she started every game in goal for the Falcons and posted some impressive numbers. Her eight shutouts led the NE10 and she ranked 3rd in save percentage at .817. She also ranked 5th in both total saves (94) and goals against average (1.02) in the NE10.

She was previously named second team All-Northeast 10.

Goulet, who was also a second team All-NE10 pick, started all 20 games and led the team in both goals (5) and points (11). She also ranked second on the team in minutes played among outfield players. Among her five goals were two scored in Bentley's 2-1 win over Saint Michael's on Nov. 2, including the overtime goal, and goals against New Haven, Adelphi and Saint Rose in the NE10 Semifinals.

Guccione tied for the team lead with four assists, and scored two goals to finish the season with eight points, third most on the team. She scored in the 86th minute of the team's 1-0 win over Pace on Oct. 11 and also scored in the 2-0 victory over Southern New Hampshire on Oct. 22. She also had the assist on Emily McGrath's 88th minute goal in a 1-0 win at AIC on Oct. 19.

Guccione was previously named third team All-NE10.

Bentley finished the 2019 season with a 10-8-2 record and played Molloy in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
