Bentley Preps for Saint Rose in NE10 Semifinals on Thursday; Ranked 5th in East Region

Waltham, Mass. – Coming off a win in the quarterfinals over Southern New Hampshire, Bentley will travel out to Saint Rose for the semifinals of the NE10 Women's Soccer Championship on Thursday. The match kicks off at 4:00 pm on NE10 Now.

Ahead of the match, Bentley was ranked 5th in the latest NCAA East Region rankings released today. The rankings have Saint Rose, Mercy, Molloy, Stonehill and Bentley as the top five.

The Falcons, the No. 4 seed in the NE10 playoffs, defeated SNHU the No. 5 seed 1-0 in the quarterfinals on Sunday. The team's defense produced its 10th shutout of the season and 7th in the last eight games. The goal came from sophomore Emily McGrath (Brewster, Mass./Nauset) in the 11th minute.

Bentley's defense, currently ranked 2nd in the NE10 with a 0.91 team goals against average, will be put to the test against Saint Rose. The Golden Knights sport the NE10's top ranked scoring offense with an average of 2.83 goals per game.

The top seed in the tournament, Saint Rose defeated Pace 4-1 in the quarterfinals.

Bentley will go into Thursday's game with the longest current unbeaten streak in the NE10 at eight games, with a 7-0-1 record. Overall the team is 10-6-2. The Golden Knights are 15-2-1 on the season, but those two losses were against teams Bentley beat, SNHU and Assumption.

The other NE10 semifinal on Thursday will pit two lower seeds that pulled off upsets in the quarterfinals. The No. 6 seed AIC will host the No. 7 seed Southern Connecticut, after the Yellow Jackets defeated No. 3 Adelphi in penalty kicks, and the Owls knocked off No. 2 Stonehill, 1-0.

The NE10 Championship match will take place on Sunday, at the home of the highest remaining seed.
