Nguyen’s Late Goal Sends Bentley to 4th Straight Win, 1-0 Over Le Moyne

Syracuse, N.Y. – Sophomore Rebecca Nguyen (Dudley, Mass./Shepherd Hill) scored in the 85th minute to send the Bentley women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Le Moyne for its 4th straight victory, and its 4th straight shutout.

The Falcons improved to 6-5 in the NE10 with the win and 7-6-1 overall and are right in the middle of the playoff spots in the NE10 standings with two conference matches remaining.

Bentley has now gone more than 376 minutes since they last allowed a goal, which came in a 2-0 defeat to Stonehill back on Oct. 8. But since then the Falcons have not allowed a single goal in four games, have won them all and outscored the opponents by a combined 5-0.

Nguyen's goal came off a corner kick that was sent in from the left corner by junior Keegan Castles (Leominster, Mass,/Nashoba). Le Moyne keeper Allison Moreau got a hand on it, but batted the ball across the line. At the same time Nguyen ran on to the ball and powered a header into the far post from close range for the goal to put Bentley in front.

Bentley outshot the Dolphins 17-5 today and had a 6-3 edge in corner kicks. Senior Kelly Donlon (Meriden, Conn.) and junior Emma Guccione (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) each had a team high two shots on goal.

Falcons goalie Kat Hassapis (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) made three saves to earn her 7th win of the season and 5th shutout.

Before Bentley resumes its playoff push, they will take on New York Tech in a non-conference game on Wednesday on the road. They return home on Saturday, Nov. 2 when they take on St. Michael's on Senior Day.
