Guccione and Nguyen Score in Bentley’s 2-2 Tie with Molloy

North Andover, Mass. – Goals from sophomores Emma Guccione (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) and  Rebecca Nguyen (Dudley, Mass./Shepherd Hill) saw the Bentley women's soccer team tie with Molloy 2-2 in the second game of the Kickoff Classic at Merrimack on Saturday afternoon.

Nguyen's first career goal in the 18th minute staked the Falcons to a 1-0 lead. Guccione then struck just 1:32 after halftime for her second goal of the weekend for a 2-0 lead. But Molloy scored goals just over five minutes apart in the 55th and 60th minutes to tie the score 2-2, and the match eventually ended in a draw.

Bentley again dominated in shots with 16 on goal to Molloy's 10. Both team's goalkeepers had strong games, with Bentley's Kat Hassapis (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) making eight saves, and Molloy's Jackie Carty 14.

Nguyen's goal came after a shot by midfielder Stephanie Helin (Manchester, Conn./East Catholic) was blocked, but Nguyen pounced on the rebound and deposited it into the back of the net.

Guccione, who scored on a 30 yard shot in Thursday's opening win, was on target again in the 47th minute, with junior Kelly Donlon (Meriden, Conn.) on the assist.

Bentley peppered the goal in the first overtime with five shots on goal, but Carty stopped each one.

The Falcons' record moved to 1-0-1 with the draw as they concluded the season opening tournament unbeaten. They'll get back on the field next Saturday to host AIC.
