McDonald Leads Bentley to 3-0 Win at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Brandi McDonald (East Bridgewater, Mass./East Bridgewater) had a hand in all three goals in leading the Bentley women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory at Saint Anselm on Wednesday.

McDonald assisted on Bentley's first two goals, Emma Guccione (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) in the 8th minute and Stephanie Helin (Manchester, Conn./East Catholic) in the 19th, before she scored herself in the 58th minute.

Guccione notched her first career goal after she finished to the far post after McDonald fed her with a long ball over the top of the Hawks' defense.

11 minutes later, Helin struck her 2nd goal of the season to put the Falcons up 2-0. Helin finished with her left foot and with a shot to the lower right corner of the net, after she took a pass from McDonald from the right side of the field.

With the Falcons in control 2-0 in the 2nd half, McDonald and Guccione again linked up for their 3rd goal. Guccione got it started with a shot that hit the crossbar, and McDonald was there to head in the rebound for her 2nd goal of the year.

Senior keeper Deirdre Macrorie (Winchester, Mass./Winchester), who was making her 42nd straight start, made four saves to earn her 13th career shutout.

The win improved Bentley's records to 4-3 overall and 2-3 Northeast-10. They're back in action on Saturday at home to Saint Michael's for a 1:00 pm kickoff.
