Bentley Wins Opener Over Molloy 1-0 Behind Connolly’s Goal

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Bentley freshman Lindsey Connolly (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) scored the only goal as the women's soccer team won its season opener on Friday night, 1-0 over Molloy.

Connolly's goal came just 48 seconds after halftime and stood up the rest of the way as the Falcons claimed a season opening win.

Junior midfielder Carly Kohler (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) helped make the goal happen. Her initial shot on goal went off the crossbar, and allowed Connolly to pounce on the rebound for the goal.

Bentley's defense, and goalkeeper Deirdre Macrorie (Winchester, Mass./Winchester), helped the lead stand up the rest of the way. Macrorie stopped all four shots on goal she faced, and the Bentley defense limited the Lions to just six shots total.

The Falcons had 15 total shots and six on target, with a team high three from junior Brandi McDonald (East Bridgewater, Mass./East Bridgewater).

Bentley will now go for a sweep of opening weekend, when they take on Dominican on Sunday at 11:00 am.
