Tantum Scores Twice But Merrimack Tops Bentley

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Sophomore forward Ana Tantum (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) scored goals in each half, but visiting Bentley fell to Merrimack 4-2 in Northeast-10 action Wednesday night.

Tantum's first goal of the night in the 29th minute brought Bentley even with Merrimack 1-1 after the Warriors opened the scoring just three minutes earlier. Tantum's goal came after she took a pass from midfielder Patty McAllister (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and fired on goal from 15 yards past the Warriors' goalie.

Merrimack though scored again before halftime to take a 2-1 lead into the break, and added on to its lead in the 57th minute on midfielder Katie Bresciani's second goal of the night.

Tantum though rallied Bentley with her second strike of the game, coming in the 64th minute. This one was unassisted as she scored after streaking down the right side and beating two defenders.

Tantum had another shot on net go wide in the 72nd minute, but Merrimack was able to put it away with a goal in the 78th minute by forward Andrea Rego.

Following this game, the Falcons close out the regular season on Saturday at Saint Rose.
