Women’s Soccer Falls to Saint Anselm in Overtime, 1-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – A 96th minute goal by Saint Anselm's Nicole Rust dealt the Bentley women's soccer team its second straight tough 1-0 defeat in overtime on Wednesday afternoon in a Northeast-10 match.

The goal was setup by a cross from the right wing by forward Alexis Elowitch, which landed at the foot of Rust inside the six-yard box. Rust's shot then went into the top of the net to give the Hawks the 1-0 victory.

The goal followed Bentley's best scoring chance of the day less than a minute earlier. A through ball sprung freshman Peyton Kent (Amherst, N.H.) for a breakaway, only to have her shot denied by Saint Anselm keeper Cassie Quattropani.

Falcons keeper Deirdre Macrorie (Winchester, Mass.) made eight saves on the day, including a string of three straight saves early in the second half to help keep the match scoreless.

Sophomore Ana Tantum (Trumbull, Conn.) led the Bentley offense with two shots on goal.

Bentley is back in action on Saturday when they travel to New Haven for a 7:00 pm match.
