NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Senior Sydney Spiegel (South Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) scored two goals and freshmen Ana Tantum (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) and Anna Siefring (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) each had one as Bentley University defeated Molloy 4-0 in a non-conference women's soccer match at the Marriott Kickoff Classic on Sunday.
Spiegel opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with an unassisted goal. In the 32nd minute it was a pair of freshmen linking up to provide Bentley's second goal for a 2-0 lead. Tantum took a pass from Jamie Grinavic (North Attleboro, Mass./North Attleboro) and dribbled in past Molloy keeper Nicole Della Porta for the goal.
With a 2-0 lead at halftime, Spiegel netted her second just after the break in the 50th minute for a 3-0 Falcons lead. Off a corner kick, senior Patty McAllister (South Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) fed Spiegel a short pass in the penalty box to set up the goal.
Siefring finished the scoring in the 82nd minute to give Bentley a 4-0 lead.
Freshman goalie Paige Laliberte (Gilford, N.H./Gilford) kept the clean sheet with four saves.
Bentley improves to 1-1 with the win, while Molloy drops to 0-2. The Falcons are back in action on Saturday when they visit Le Moyne for their Northeast-10 opener.
