Muise's Overtime PK Gives Bentley 2-1 Victory at Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Laura Muise (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) converted a penalty kick in the 103rd minute as Bentley University rallied from 1-0 down to beat Assumption College 2-1 on the road Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 women's soccer.

Muise has now scored in four straight matches for Bentley (5-6-2, 3-6-2 NE-10), the last two of which have been winners. They've won two in a row now after Wednesday's 1-0 victory over UMass-Lowell. The Greyhounds fall to 3-7-3 overall and 3-6-2 in NE-10 matches.

The home side went ahead in the 34th minute on a goal by junior Andrea Bates with senior Caitlin Sewall assisting.

But just before halftime the Falcons equalized on freshman Caroline Fitzgerald's (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) first career goal in the 43rd minute. Muise had the assist, the first of her season.

The second half did not yield any goals, sending the match into overtime. The first 10 minutes of OT passed without a goal, bringing the match into a second overtime. There, a Bentley player was fouled in the penalty area to set up Muise's penalty kick, which she converted to give Bentley the win.

Muise's scoring streak has lifted her into the team-lead for both goals (four) and points (nine).

The Falcons will look for their third straight victory when they host Stonehill Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 pm.
