Schmal Named a Division II All-American by Inside Lacrosse

Waltham, Mass. – Bentley University's Kate Schmal (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) has been named a Women's Lacrosse Division II Media All-American by the publication Inside Lacrosse.

Schmal, a junior defender, was named to the third team.

Despite the truncated season, Inside Lacrosse enlisted votes from its contributors and members of the lacrosse media to recognize the accomplishments of the players. Three teams were chosen across Division II, with a total of 12 attackers, nine midfielders, 12 defenders and three goalies.

In Bentley's three games in the shortened 2020 campaign, Schmal totaled eight ground balls and six caused turnovers. She had five ground balls and four caused turnovers along against Mercy on Feb. 29.

Schmal has been a standout during her Bentley career. She was named third team All-Conference as a sophomore, and to the NE10 All-Rookie team in 2018. She is an information design and corporate communications major.
