Getting to Know...Women's Lacrosse Student-Athlete Cara McCarthy

Getting to Know Bentley women's lacrosse student-athlete Cara McCarthy, from Salem, New Hamsphire. A junior, Cara is a double major, in marketing and media, arts and society studies. Last season she was named 3rd team All-NE10 and to the NE10 All-Academic team after she scored 43 goals.

Why did you first start playing lacrosse and what other sports did you play before college?

I first started playing lacrosse because softball was too slow moving. I played soccer and ran track in highschool, as well as 10 years as an Irish step dancer.

Who was your favorite athlete growing up, and who is your current favorite athlete?

My favorite athlete growing up was Teddy Bruschi. My favorite athletes now are Brady and Gronk, and Rory McIlroy.  

What is the most memorable sporting event that you have attended?

A Bruins game.

Favorite place you have traveled to?

The Kjeragbolten boulder in Norway, or the Amalfi Coast, in Italy.

What are your pre and post game meals of choice?

Pregame I like to have a bagel sandwich and a banana. Postgame I like to have chicken parm and salad.

What are the reasons that you chose to attend Bentley?

Because of the great Undergraduate and Graduate business programs. It was also close to home, the campus is beautiful and of course- the lacrosse program. 

Favorite moment or memory of your Bentley career?

Any of our 4 OT wins in the 2019 season!!!

How have you been spending your time during the shutdown?

I've been training for a half marathon and doing school work.

What were some of your reactions to the season getting shutdown?

Feelings of devastation and heartbreak, but we just have to start preparing for next season.
