Bresler Named First Team All-American by IWLCA

Waltham, Mass. – Bentley University junior goalie Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North) was named a Division II first team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association on Tuesday night.

Bresler becomes the first, first team All-American in the Bentley women's lacrosse program's history. She's the program's fourth student-athlete to earn All-American distinction overall, joining Alyssa Ritchie (2nd team, 2007), and fellow goalies Ally Dorman (2nd team, 2013) and Lauren Ochs (3rd team, 2016).

"I am so proud of Eliza and this accomplishment. Eliza had a tremendous year and was a key contributor in the success we had this season," said head coach Taylor Bastien. "She was a dominating force in our defensive unit and made big plays for us, not only making saves, but also causing turnovers and picking up ground balls to give us possession. I am excited to have her back to lead this team for another year in 2020."

Bresler was previously named the Northeast-10 Goalie of the Year and first team All-East Region by the IWLCA for a season in which she finished at or near the top of the national rankings in several statistical categories.

She was tied for the most saves made (217) and ranked tied for second in saves per game (12.76). She also registered the sixth best save percentage (.529). Showing her impact in other facets of the game, Bresler ranked 11th in ground balls per game (4.00) and 36th in caused turnovers per game (2.00).

As one of Bentley's team captains, she helped lead the team to an 11-6 record and a tie for 3rd place in the NE10 standings.
