No. 19 Bentley Falls to No. 15 Merrimack 15-10

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – In its third straight matchup against a top-15 team, the No. 19 ranked Bentley women's lacrosse team fell on the road to No. 15 ranked Merrimack on Tuesday night 15-10.

The Falcons, who were looking for their fifth win this season over a ranked team after defeating Pace at home on Saturday, fell to 8-4 overall and 7-3 NE10. The Warriors improved 10-4 and 7-3 NE10.

At halftime, the deficit for the Falcons was a manageable 8-4, but Merrimack began the second half strong with five unanswered goals in the first 10 minutes to open up a 13-4 lead.

Bentley got closer over the next seven minutes though. Freshman Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) scored three straight goals to claw the Falcons closer at 13-7 with 15:25 remaining. After a Merrimack goal, senior Ciara Morley (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington) found the back of the net at 13:23 to make it a 14-8 game.

Morley's goal, however, was Bentley's last for about 10 minutes, and by the time they scored the game's final two goals, from senior Kathleen Gillespie (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet) at 2:51 and senior Carolyn Cruise (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) with 48 seconds left, there was not enough time to overcome the five goal deficit.

Glavin led the Bentley offense with four goals, while she also pulled down a game high six draw controls. Gillespie, Cruise and Morley also had two goals.
