Lindgren’s Five Goals Help Bentley Top Merrimack, 11-8

WALTHAM, Mass. – Attacker Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin) netted five goals to help the Bentley women's lacrosse team to an 11-8 Senior Day victory over Northeast-10 rival Merrimack on Saturday.

The win improved Bentley's NE10 record to 6-5, and solidified their conference playoff hopes with two games to go.

Four of Lindgren's five goals came unanswered in the first half over a span of 17-plus minutes. She scored the first two goals less than minutes apart, which started at the 17:13 mark, to give Bentley a 3-2 lead.

11 minutes then passed without either team scoring. But Lindgren helped Bentley score the next two goals, at 3:00 and 40 seconds, to give them a 5-2 lead at halftime.

The teams traded goals over the opening 15 minutes of the 2nd half, which saw Bentley lead 8-6. The Falcons though scored two straight, from Lindgren in a man-up situation at 13:30, followed senior Ellie Shuman's (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) goal at 8:50 to give them a 10-6 lead.

Junior Kathleen Gillespie (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet) scored Bentley's final goal with 32 seconds left.

Senior goalie Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) made eight saves to earn the victory.

Prior to the game, Ochs, Lindgren, Shuman, Tori Rotermund (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand), Taylor Lunden (Agawam, Mass./Agawam) and Ciara Morley (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington), who had two goals, were honored prior to the game on Senior Day.
