Lindgren, Shuman Help Bentley Run Past Southern Connecticut 17-7

WALTHAM, Mass. – Seniors Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin) and Ellie Shuman (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) each had big offensive nights to help the Bentley University women's lacrosse team to a 17-7 victory over Southern Connecticut on Tuesday night.

The Falcons have now won three straight games, and improved their Northeast-10 record to 3-3.
Lindgren matched her career-high for goals in a game with five, and also added two assists, which matched her career-high with seven points in a game.  Shuman tallied four goals, which was just one short of her career-high.
Senior attacker Ciara Morley (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington) was among two others who had two goals on the night. She was joined by sophomore MaryKate Staines (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) and junior Kathleen Gillespie (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet).  Gillespie also pulled down a game-high six draw controls.
Bentley led from start to finish after Shuman scored the game's first goal on a free-position shot 1:54 into the contest. Its largest run of the night was a 5-0 spurt that spanned more than 15 minutes of the first half, and was bookended by goals from Lindgren. The run ended with the Falcons leading 7-2 with 4:00 remaining in the first half.
Bentley then began the second half with a 4-0 run over the first seven minutes of the second half. The goals came from four different players; Staines, Lindgren, Carolyn Cruise (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) and Morley. They led 11-3 after that run.
Falcons goalie Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) made seven saves to earn the win, while she also picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Bentley will go for its fourth straight win on Saturday when they host Assumption at 11:00 am.
