No. 18 Bentley Wins 4th Straight, 11-10 at Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. – A late defensive stand and a last second save by goalie Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) lifted 18th ranked Bentley to an 11-10 victory at Assumption on Saturday afternoon, the team's 4th straight win.

Bentley trailed 10-9 late in the game after a lengthy 6-0 run by the Greyhounds saw them take the lead with 13:30 remaining after a goal by attacker Sarah Reilly. However, Bentley's Nikki Christopulos (Andover, Mass./Andover) scored the tying goal at the 9:17 mark. Junior Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin) then netted what when down as the winning goal at the 5:30 mark, her 4th of the day to make it 11-10.

The Falcons though went down a player with 1:07 remaining after a yellow card. After a Falcons timeout, Assumption had possession, but didn't get a shot off until the final seconds that went wide. After regaining possession, a shot by Reilly was saved by Ochs and Bentley secured the win.

Bentley led 4-3 at halftime as senior Erin O'Connor (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) had two first half goals. They then went on a 4-0 run to start the 2nd half to take an 8-3 lead. Lindgren had two goals during the run, and Meredith Hart (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and Kathleen Gillespie (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet) also had goals.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in NE-10 play. They're back on the field on Wednesday night to host rival Stonehill.
