No. 18 Bentley Wins 3rd Straight, 11-9 Over Southern Conn St.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – 18th ranked Bentley came from behind in the 2nd half to post an 11-9 victory at Southern Connecticut State on Tuesday night for its 3rd straight win. The victory gets the team's record back to .500 in Northeast-10 games.

Bentley trailed 5-3 early in the 2nd half after a goal by the Owls' Nicole Healey 41 seconds into the half. They trailed 8-6 as late as 15 minutes into the half after two straight goals by the home side. But the Falcons proceeded to go on a 5-0 run to take command of the game and come home with the victory.

Junior Ellie Shuman (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) got the run started, scoring just 32 seconds after the 2nd of the two straight Owls goals. Less than a minute later, senior Kelsey Howard (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) scored on a free-position shot to the game at 8.

Bentley then took the lead for good as junior Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin) converted a free-position attempt with 10:38 remaining. Shuman scored again at the 9:03 mark, followed by a goal by Meredith Hart (Fairport, N.Y.), off a feed from Erin O'Connor (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow), to give the Falcons an 11-8 lead with 8:25 remaining.

The Falcons then closed the game down defensively; allowing only a goal by Healey with 27 seconds left the rest of the game.

Lindgren had three goals and one assist to lead the offense with four points, while goalie Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) made seven saves to earn the win.

Bentley will go for a 4th straight win on Saturday when they visit Assumption.
