Bentley Finishes Strong in 10-7 Win over Mt. Olive

Mount Olive, N.C. – Bentley scored the final two goals of the game to help secure a 10-7 victory over Mt. Olive in non-conference women's lacrosse to begin the team's trip through North Carolina.

With the Falcons holding onto an 8-7 lead after Mt. Olive scored two straight goals, they closed strong with goals from Taylor Lunden (Agawam, Mass./Agawam) at the 3:14 mark and Meredith Hart (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) with 1:16 left to finish it off.

Lunden and Hart were two of the four Falcons with two goals on the afternoon; the other two were Hannah Lindgen (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin) and Ellie Shuman (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North).

Hart scored the game's first goal six minutes in and Bentley never trailed, though it was a close game throughout with its biggest lead being three goals twice in the 2nd half.

The Falcons led 4-3 at halftime and the team's traded goals to start the 2nd half. Bentley then scored two straight goals, coming from Shuman and freshman Nikki Christopulos (Andover, Mass./Andover) on a free-position shot to take a 7-4 lead at the 17:35 mark.

Mt. Olive would score three of the next four goals to creep to within 8-7 with just 3:36 remaining, but Lunden scored unassisted just 22 seconds later, followed by Hart's goal to put the game away.

Bentley improves to 1-2 with the victory, and will finish its NC trip on Friday at Pfeiffer.
