EASTON, Mass. – No. 4 seed Stonehill advanced past No. 5 Bentley seed 15-10 Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Women's Lacrosse Championship. Senior attack Jackie Brown (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) led the Falcon offense with three goals and one assist.

A 9-0 Skyhawks run that stretched over the two halves proved to be the difference after the game was tied 5-5 with 20 minutes gone in the first half. Stonehill improves to 15-3 on the season and moves on to face top-seed Adelphi in the semifinals on Saturday.

Stonehill got off to a fast start and led 4-0 after the first four-plus minutes. Four different players found the back of the net, including one of four on the night for midfielder Lizzie Lane.

But Bentley fought back with a 4-0 run. Midfielder Meredith Hart (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) started it at the 22:39 mark. Bentley then struck twice in a row in man-up situations, with the goals coming from Taylor Lunden (Agawam, Mass./Agawam) and Brown. With the teams back to even-strength, Brown scored again at the 15:21 mark to tie the game 4-4.

Stonehill broke up the run with a goal by sophomore Caitlin Sweeney, but Kelsey Howard (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) tied it back up for Bentley with 9:57 left in the half.

Unfortunately for Bentley that was its last goal for quite a while, as the Skyhawks scored four straight over the final 9:04 of the half to lead 9-5 at halftime. Lane had the last three goals in a row.

The run then extended into the second half as Stonehill scored five more in a row over the first seven-plus minutes of the half to take a 14-5 lead, from which Bentley could not recover.

The Falcons did fight back in the later stages. Trailing 15-6 with 18:27 remaining, Bentley scored the final four goals of the game. Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Alongquin), Brown, Howard and Erin O'Connor (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) had the goals, the last of which came with 4:30 remaining.

The defeat is just the second for Bentley in its last eight games. Their season comes to an end with a 10-6 record.
