Falcons Win Second Straight, 14-10 Over Southern Connecticut

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley women's lacrosse team earned its second straight victory on Saturday afternoon with a 14-10 defeat of Southern Connecticut. Sophomore Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin) and senior Jackie Brown (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) each had three goals, while junior Kelsey Howard (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) had four assists.

A high-scoring first half saw the Falcons take an 11-6 lead at halftime. They led 4-0 after just five minutes of play with Brown and Lindgren among the goal scorers.

The Owls climbed back in it over the next eight minutes with four of the game's next six goals to cut Bentley's lead to 6-4, but they never lost the lead. Two more goals from Brown, and two from freshman Kathleen Gillespie (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet), who also had seven draw controls, helped Bentley maintain its advantage. Taylor Lunden (Agawam, Mass./Agawam) and Ellie Shuman (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) also had goals before the end of the half.

The second half was decidedly not as high-scoring, with only seven goals combined. Bentley scored the first two from Lindgren and Lunden in the first four-plus minutes to take a 13-6 lead. Southern Conn would score the next three goals, but it took them almost 20 minutes to do it, and they still trailed 13-9 after attacker Emma Farrel scored her fifth of the game at the 4:53 mark.

Shuman scored Bentley's final goal of the game with 1:08 remaining, as the Falcons improve to 6-4 overall and 5-3 in Northeast-10 action.

Sophomore goalie Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) made 12 saves to pick up the win.

Bentley will go for a third straight win on Wednesday when they host Saint Michael's.
