Bentley Drops Regular Season Finale to No. 2 Adelphi 15-7

WALTHAM, Mass. – Despite a 15-7 defeat to No. 2 Adelphi in Saturday's regular season finale, the Bentley women's lacrosse team will play on in the first round of the Northeast-10 Women's Lacrosse Championship on Wednesday night.

The Falcons will enter the postseason as the No. 6 seed, and will play at No. 3 seed Saint Anselm on Wednesday night at 4:00 pm.

Attacker Taylor Bastien (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) led the Falcon offense with three goals and two assists on Senior Day. Another senior, Jackie Brown (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield), had two goals and one assist.

Bentley held up strong defensively against the top scoring team in Division II, limiting them to just one goal in the first 15 minutes in a 1-1 game, in which sophomore Kelsey Howard (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) scored.

But Adelphi netted six straight goals in a span of 10 minutes to take a 7-1 lead with 5:12 left in the half. Attacker Rachel O'Brien had three goals during the run. Brown scored a man-up goal for Bentley with 1:53 remaining in the half and the score was 7-2 Adelphi at halftime.

The Panthers started the second half strong and opened up a 12-2 advantage. But Bentley scored five of the game's final eight goals over the last 12 minutes. Bastien had three goals in less than five minutes, and Brown and sophomore Tori Cerny (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) also scored.

Senior goalie Ally Dorman (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) came up with nine saves against the high-powered Adelphi offense.

Bentley finishes the regular season with an 8-8 overall record and a 7-5 Northeast-10 record. Adelphi is now 17-0 and 12-0 NE-10.
