Dowling Slips Past Women’s Lacrosse, 12-9

BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. – Despite a late comeback attempt, the Bentley women's lacrosse team was beaten by Dowling 12-9 Sunday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The game completed Bentley's weekend trip through Long Island at 1-1.

The Falcons trailed 11-7 after a goal by Dowling's Jerilynn Goodfellow with 12:14 remaining in the contest. But they scored the next two goals to pull within 11-9 with just over five minutes to play. Sophomore Kelsey Howard (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) scored at the 8:23 mark, followed by freshman Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) scoring with 5:01 to go.

However that would Bentley's final goal of the game as the Golden Lions were able to hang on for the victory. Dowling's Kelly DiFede scored the final goal of the afternoon with 28 seconds left.

Bentley senior midfielder Carolyn Kynoch (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) had a hat trick, with two goals in the first half and one in the second. She also added an assist on Lindgren's goal for a team-high four points.

The Falcons are back in action Tuesday afternoon when they visit Saint Michael's for a 3:30 pm start.
