No. 15 Saint Anselm Holds Off Bentley Comeback, 12-9

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Bentley women's lacrosse team staged a furious comeback Wednesday night against Saint Anselm, scoring the game's final four goals, but they could not complete the comeback as the Hawks took a 12-9 victory in Northeast-10 play.

Saint Anselm went ahead 12-5 with 10:56 left after a goal by sophomore Lauren Perry. Four minutes passed until the next goal, but it was Bentley's Carolyn Kynoch (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) scoring it. That cut the deficit to 12-6.

That was the first of three goals Bentley scored in less than minute. Freshman Ciara Morley (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington) found the back of the net with 5:56 left, followed by a goal from junior Jessica Ferrigno (Bridgewater, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham) at the 5:32 mark.

With Bentley now trailing only 12-8, Taylor Bastien (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) scored with 4:52 left, cutting the deficit to just three.

However that was the final goal of the night as Saint Anselm was able to hang on for the victory.

The Falcons trailed 5-1 with 4:07 left in the first half, but scored the final two goals of the half from Kynoch and sophomore Kelsey Howard (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) to trail only 5-3 at halftime. The Hawks though opened the second half by scoring six of the first seven goals to open up an 11-4 advantage after just over 10 minutes had been played.

Bentley will next play at Molloy on Friday night as they continue their seven-game road trip.
