Ten Different Players Find Net as Bentley Tops Saint Anselm, 21-13

WALTHAM, Mass. -- junior Megan Wiggins (Acton/Acton-Boxborough Reg. HS), sophomore Cory Geiger (Agawam/Agawam HS) and freshman Chelsea Larivee (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan HS) each scored four times as Bentley University used a season-high goal total en route to a 21-13 win over Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse match Tuesday night at Bentley.  A total of ten players scored for the Falcons in the win.

The win elevated Bentley to the .500 mark for the season at 8-8 and boosted the Falcons to 6-5 in conference play, with one game left (Friday night against Southern Connecticut State). Saint Anselm dipped to 4-9 overall and 4-7 in the NE-10.

After Saint Anselm ran off three straight goals to even the contest at six goals apiece, the Falcons took charge of the contest with nine unanswered goals during a 14-minute stretch sandwiched around the halftime break.

Four goals in the final 5:07 of the first half sent Bentley into intermission up four, 10-6. Sophomore Alex Carney (Providence, R.I./Wheeler School) scored the first two of the run, sophomore Dovlyn Curtis (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham HS) made it 9-6 with 2:34 left, and Geiger made it a four-goal advantage 17 seconds before the halftime horn

Geiger opened the scoring once play resumed, Larivee followed with her third of the night, and Wiggins found the net three times in four minutes to extend the Falcon lead to 15-6 with 21:15 left.  Bentley's lead peaked at 11, 21-10, on a Geger goal with 6:23 remaining.

Geiger also had two assists in addition to her four points, and Carney (three goals), Wiggins and Larrivee each finished with five points.

Freshman Ally Dorman (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury HS) earned the win in net after making six saves and yielding six goals over the game's first 38-plus minutes. Junior Kate Pozniak (Fitchburg/St. Bernard's HS) closed for Bentley and finished with seven saves and seven goals allowed in 21:50.
