WALTHAM, Mass. – For the third time this season, Bentley University freshman guard Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Thompson gained her latest honor after helping Bentley to wins over Assumption and Franklin Pierce, games in which she averaged 18.5 points and shot 57 percent, including 7 of 14 from outside the arc.

Thompson had a career-high 23 points and seven rebounds in an overtime victory over Assumption and followed that effort with 14 points in 18 minutes off the bench against Franklin Pierce. The freshman from Indiana connected four times from distance against the Hounds and three times during a 5-for-7 shooting afternoon against the Ravens.

Her rookie season has seen her average 9.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists. She ranks fourth in the conference in assist-turnover ratio and is also tenth in assists.

Senior center Monica Viapiano (Holden/Holy Name) was also recognized with inclusion on the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll.

In the two wins, Viapiano scored 20 points against the Greyhounds and had 21 points in 21 minutes in a 75-52 victory over Franklin Pierce. She shot 65 percent from the field and also had nine rebounds in both contests.

Bentley, 19-7, will wrap up the regular season Tuesday at Saint Anselm and will begin the conference championships on Sunday afternoon.
