RINDGE, N.H. – Graduate guard Becca Musgrove (Plainview, N.Y./St. Anthony's HS) scored 15 points, sophomore forward Monica Viapiano (Holden, Mass./Holy Name HS) followed with 13 off the bench and junior forward Victoria Lux (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy) contributed her 13th double-double as Bentley University closed out the regular season with a 65-50 win over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball Tuesday night at the FPU Fieldhouse.

Bentley's fourth straight win elevated the 13th-ranked team in Division II to 24-3 on the season, including 18-3 NE10. Franklin Pierce concluded its season at 4-22 overall and 1-20 conference.

The Falcons took a lead they would never give up during a 13-2 first-quarter run that made it a 15-6 game. Senior guard Macchi Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School HS) was instrumental with a three-point play at the offensive end and a drawn charge at the other end.

In the second quarter, Bentley used a 12-1 burst to open a 32-16 lead.  A half-dozen players pitched in with points, including senior guard Trevena Bennett (Union, N.J./Gill St. Bernard School) with her second three-pointer of the night, and the lead remained in double figures the rest of the way.

The Falcon lead hit 18 in the third quarter and the visitors put the game away with a 12-4 run to start the fourth. Musgrove scored the first four, Viapiano the last four and the differential peaked at 21, 63-42 with 4:57 to play.

Musgrove and Viapiano complemented their point total with five rebounds apiece. Lux finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Bennett added eight. Smith helped out with seven points, five assists, three rebounds and one steal in 23 turnover-free minutes.

Franklin Pierce was led by sophomore guard Mya Mosley (Worcester, Mass.), who finished with a game-high 22, including 14 of her team's 20 in the third quarter.

Both teams had difficulties putting the ball in the basket with Bentley finishing at .333 from the field and Franklin Pierce .305. The Falcons were a plus-10 on the boards, 50-40, and also had a big advantage at the foul line, finishing 22 of 31 as compared to the Ravens 10 of 15.

Bentley will open the Northeast-10 Championships Sunday with a 3 pm quarterfinal game at the Dana Center. The two teams met once during the regular season with the Falcons returning from Pleasantville, N.Y. with a 72-66 victory last month.
