WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior guard Lauren Green (Damascus, Md./Damascus HS) opened the game's scoring with a pair of three-pointers and finished with a team-high 14 as Bentley University went wire-to-wire for a 68-49 Senior Day win over Merrimack College in Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center.

Bentley, ranked 14th nationally in Division II, improved to 23-3 overall and 17-3 conference after giving up less than 50 for the seventh time this season. Merrimack, after committing 22 turnovers, left the court 14-11 overall and 10-10 NE10.

Strong finishes to each of the first two quarters sent Bentley to the halftime locker room on the positive side of a 32-19 score.

The Falcons led 17-7 after the opening 10 minutes on the strength of a 9-0 run over the final two minutes.  Junior center Victoria Lux (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy) scored the first four, senior guard Trevena Bennett (Union, N.J./Gill St. Bernard School) drained a three from the left corner and junior forward Megan Lewis (Sevenoaks, England) dropped in two from the foul stripe.

It was an 11-4 burst at the end of the second quarter that extended the Falcon advantage from six to 13 points. Green got it going with a triple from the left side and Lewis scored the final four with a lay-up after a steal and a pair of free throws.

Bentley's third-quarter lead peaked at 18 several times, the first at 44-26 with 4:43 to play following six unanswered points. Again, Green was involved, this time with a 12-footer.

In the fourth, the Falcons led by as many as 21.

Green (4-for-8 from 3) was joined in double figures by Lux and Lewis, who combined for 21 of the Falcons' 31 bench points. Lux had 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists and Lewis provided ten points and four assists.

The Falcons also received eight points apiece from senior forward Cassie Smith (Metuchen, N.J./Edison HS) and graduate guard Becca Musgrove (Plainview, N.Y./St. Anthony's HS), with Musgrove also supplying four assists and the same number of steals.

The only double-figure scorer for Merrimack was junior guard Lindsay Werner (Groton), with 17 points on just 5-for-16 shooting.

Bentley outshot the visitors 41-36 percent, dominated the boards (43-29) and finished with a 23-7 advantage in points off turnovers. The Warriors lost the ball 22 times, including 16 in the first half, while the Falcons finished with 16 turns.

Bentley will close out the regular season Tuesday night at Franklin Pierce.
