WALTHAM, Mass. – Six players scored in double figures, including sophomore forward Monica Viapiano (Holden/Holy Name HS) with an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double off the bench, as the Bentley University Falcons set school records for points in a quarter and a game en route to a 114-50 win over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball Wednesday evening at the Dana Center.

Bentley, ranked third nationally in Division II, erupted for a school-record 40 points in the opening quarter and broke the program's single game record of 111, set against Merrimack back in 1995.

With three early baskets from junior center Victoria Lux (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy), Bentley vaulted out to a 12-0 lead before the game was three minutes old. After the Ravens picked up their first basket with 6:18 on the first-quarter clock, the Falcons ran off another nine straight, including four points from graduate student Becca Musgrove (Plainview, N.Y./St. Anthony's HS), for a commanding 21-2 lead with 4:30 still to play in the first.

Bentley, 7-0 overall and 3-0 NE10, drained four three-pointers in the final 2:25 of the quarter, including three from freshman forward Marissa Fontaine (Franklin/Bishop Feehan HS), and led after one by a ridiculous 28 points, 40-12.

In that opening period, Bentley shot 73 percent overall, including six of ten from downtown, and nearly had as many assists (11) as the Ravens had points (12). Senior guard Lauren Green (Damascus, Md./Damascus HS) led the Falcons in scoring with 10 and Fontaine had her nine points in only three minutes.

Bentley took a 63-28 lead into halftime before dominating the third quarter, 30-10, on 65 percent shooting. The 64-point final difference was the largest lead for the Falcons in the game.

Six Falcons scored in doubles with Viapiano and Fontaine, both non-starters, at the top of the list. Viapiano made 9 of 13 shots from the field and Fontaine didn't miss a shot while scoring 16. She was six-of-six overall with four of her baskets from outside the three-point line.

Lux, Green and Musgrove all finished with 12 points and senior guard Macchi Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School) followed with ten. Coach Barbara Stevens, who recorded her 990th career victory, also received nine points from senior guard Trevena Bennett (Union, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's School) and eight points, and the same number of assists, from sophomore guard Maddy Springfield (Jaffrey, N.H./Conant HS).

All 12 players dressed for Bentley played between 12 and 21 minutes, scored at least three points and recorded at least one assist.

Bentley, which was threatening the school record for field goal percentage (.659) most of the night, finished at .629. The Falcons were also 15 of 25 from downtown, tying the program's single game record for three-balls, and a perfect 11 of 11 from the line. Rebounds finished at 42-19, points off turnovers were 31-10, assists 35-7, and bench points were an amazing 62-10. That came after amassing 55 bench points in Sunday's 84-44 win over Bridgeport.

Franklin Pierce's top scorer was senior guard Jemma Thacker (Nairne, South Australia) with 16 points, along with four steals. The Ravens (4-4, 1-3 NE10) shot 35 percent and finished more turnovers (23) than field goals (17).

After a three-game homestand in which Bentley outscored its opponents 288-171, Bentley will be on the road Saturday for a 1:30 pm game at St. Michael's College.
