WALTHAM, Mass. – Amassing 14 hits off three Falcon pitchers, the Southern New Hampshire University softball team completed a three-game series sweep of Bentley University with a 6-1 win over the Falcons Sunday in Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division action on the Bentley softball field.

SNHU, which has won 12 straight and is ranked 18th in Division II, was led by senior catcher Erin Garczynski (Norwood) and junior right fielder Jordan Wade (East Taunton), with three hits apiece.

The Penmen (20-4, 5-0 NE10, 3-0 Northeast) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Freshman designated player Chloe Griffin (Scarborough, Maine) reached on an infield single and later scored on Garczynski's single to left.

SNHU picked up two runs in the third after an apparent inning-ending double play was overturned on an obstruction call at the plate. One scored on that play and the second on a double to left by junior pitcher Maddy Barone (Halifax).

Bentley made it a two-run game in the bottom of the sixth when it scored for the only time in the game. Freshman designated player Ella Hillier (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin HS) led off with a single down the left field line and scored on a double in the same direction by junior first baseman Gabby Casalino (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West HS).

SNHU pulled away with three runs in the top of the seventh, with two scoring on a double by sophomore third baseman Emily Cristch (Halifax).

Bentley, which had threatened with the bases loaded and only one out in the third, finished with six hits, including two from junior left fielder Stacey Korotsky (Raynham/Bridgewater Raynham HS).

Barone earned her second win of the series over the Falcons and improved to 10-1 on the season with an eight-strikeout performance.

Bentley (7-15, 3-4 NE10, 0-3 Northeast) is scheduled to play a doubleheader at Merrimack on Wednesday, with the first pitch at 3 pm.
