Higgins Top Runner for Bentley Men in Kirsh Cup

HOPKINTON, N.H. – Senior Seamus Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) was the top finisher for the Bentley University men's cross country team during Saturday morning's Kirsch Cup at the State Fairgrounds.

Higgins covered the 8,000-meter course in 27:14.7 to finish ninth in a field of 64 runners and sixth among collegians.

Junior Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS) also had a solid effort for the Falcons, placing 11th in 27:20.7.

The efforts of Higgins and Murphy helped Bentley finish fourth of six teams with a score of 118. Southern New Hampshire University cruised to victory with a 25, and both Southern Connecticut State (47) and the host team, Franklin Pierce (73), also were ahead of the Falcons in the standings.

Bentley will travel to Nashville, Tenn. later this week for the Trevecca Division II Showcase next Saturday.
