Dean & Haas Top Finishers for Bentley Men in NCAA Regional

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Tom Dean (Portland, Maine/Deering HS) and freshman Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) were the top finishers for the Bentley University men's cross country team during Sunday's NCAA Division II East Regional at Franklin Park.

Dean finished 54th overall with a 10,000-meter time of 33:47.3, and Haas was five places and 12.5 seconds behind him.

As a team, a young Falcon squad (six of the seven runners were freshmen or sophomores) placed 12th out of 26 teams with a score of 324 points. They were ninth amongst Northeast-10 teams, matching the squad's performance in the conference championships two weeks ago.

Bentley's top five also included sophomore Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS), freshman Rupak Mehta (Howell, N.J./Howell HS) and senior Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./ Randolph HS). Nee was 65th in 34:10.2, Mehta 69th in 34.16.2 and Higgins 77th in 34:29.4.

Stonehill College edged Franklin Pierce University for the team championship, 78-97, with both qualifying for the NCAA Championships, along with Wilmington University (Del.). Sophomore Mike Biwott of American International was the individual champion, winning by about 47 seconds in 30:30.9.
