Bentley Indoor Track Competes in New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Bentley University was represented by a half-dozen student-athletes on Friday afternoon during the 52nd annual New England Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Senior Josh Gettings (Lowell/Lowell HS) established a new personal best in the 500 meters while finishing 25th in 1:08.02. That improved on his previous best by 0.59 seconds.

Also for the men's team, junior Antonio Catino (North Reading/North Reading HS) was 26th overall and fourth among Division II runners in the 60 hurdles, posting an 8.90. Senior Alex Arnold (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) was 29th in the 60 meters (7.24) and freshman Brice Tolan (Abington/ Abington HS) was 25th in the 800 (2:02.11).

For the women's team, sophomore Chase Davies (Marblehead/Marblehead HS) was 26th in the 60 hurdles (9.54) and senior Chantel Lewis (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Science and Math) was 27th in the 500 (1:23.44).

Senior Kayla Fraser (East Longmeadow/East Longmeadow HS) competed in the pentathlon in the Branwen Smith-King Invitational at Tufts University, placing tenth among 15 in the five-event competition. She totaled 2,284 points with a high of 566 in the 60 hurdles.

Fraser established a new PR in the 60 hurdles (10.82 seconds) and cleared four feet, five inches in the high jump. She also threw the shot 27'1.75", posted a distance of 15'3.25" in the long jump and ran the 800 in 2:58.74.

Next Saturday, Bentley will compete in the UMaine Invitational.
