Bentley Falls to Division I Lehigh 7-0
Orlando, Fla. – Bentley men's tennis took on Division I Lehigh in the second match of its spring break trip on Monday, but the Falcons fell to a 7-0 defeat at the USTA National Campus.
The Mountain Hawks, who compete in the Patriot League, improved to 4-4 on the season. Bentley dropped to 4-5 with two matches remaining on its Florida swing.
Two of the singles matches went to three sets. Bentley's Jordan Soifer (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) took on Lehigh's Jacob Edelchik in the No. 2 match. Edelchik won the first set 6-3, but Soifer took the second set in a tiebreak, 7-6. Edelchik however pulled out the third set by a 10-7 score.
In the No. 4 match, Bentley's Alex Novins (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) won the first set against Jeremy Learner 7-6. Learner though took the next two sets, 6-3 and 10-8.
The No. 1 doubles match went to a tiebreak as well. Bentley's Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) and Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) pushed Lehigh's team of Harold Wang and Zack Elliot to a tiebreak, but fell 7-6 (8-6).
Bentley will be back in action on Tuesday when they take on St. Thomas Aquinas in Lakeland.
