Bentley Wins 4th Straight, 6-1 over St. Thomas Aquinas

Orlando, Fla. – The Bentley men's tennis team won for the 4th time in a row on Wednesday with a 6-1 win over St. Thomas Aquinas.

Bentley swept the doubles matches and took five of six singles for the 6-1 win, to improve its record to 6-3 on the season. The Spartans fall to 4-1, who are ranked 9th in the East Region.

Sophomore Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) was Bentley's top winner in singles, with a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Tim Fleerkamp in the No. 2 match. Senior Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) rallied after dropping the first set in the No. 3 match, but took the final two sets for a 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 win over Paul Voigt. Junior Kendall Au (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) also rallied from a set down, in No. 5, to defeat Luke Taplin 5-7, 6-4, 10-8.

In doubles, Fuca and Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) won the No. 1 match as part of the doubles sweep, 6-1 over Taplin and Fleerkamp. Au and Weitz defeated Voigt and Enej Hasicevic 7-5, in No. 2, and Nick Hatcher (Danbury, Conn./Immactulate) and Mauricio Fadul (Key Biscayne, Fla.) beat Mitchell Harrison and Marcel Volz in No. 3, 7-5.

Bentley will conclude its Florida trip on Friday when they visit Florida Tech for a 3:00 pm match.
