Aulson Wins Twice to Lead Bentley Past Bloomsburg 4-3

Orlando, Fla. – Sophomore Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) won in both singles and doubles to lead the Bentley men's tennis team past Bloomsburg 4-3 on Tuesday down in Florida.

Aulson combined with freshman Alex Novins (Wellesley, Mass.) for a 6-1 win in the No. 2 doubles match over Bloomsburg's Guillermo Carranza and Nagid Walle. But Bloomsburg was able to take the No. 1 and No. 3 matches to secure the doubles point for an early 1-0 lead.

Bentley though won four of six in singles to take the match 4-3. Sophomore Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) defeated Bernardo Abreu 6-3, 7-5 in No. 2, and Aulson rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 win over Carranza in No. 3. The other two key wins in singles came from junior Kendall Au (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) in No. 5 and Jose Dalla Valle (Miami, Fla.) in No. 6. Au defeated Walle in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, while Dalla Valle rallied after he dropped the first set for a 1-6, 6-3, 10-6 victory over Robin Luetzig.

Bentley (5-3) has now won three matches in a row and the first two of its spring break trip. They'll look to continue the winning ways tomorrow against Saint Thomas Aquinas.
