Bentley Tops Ithaca 5-2 to Win Spring Trip Opener

Orlando, Fla.. – Bentley won of five of six singles matches to defeat Ithaca College 5-2 on Monday in the first match of its spring break trip in Florida.

The Bombers won the doubles point by winning the No. 1 and No. 2 matches, but Bentley rallied in singles. Bentley did win the No. 3 doubles match behind Nick Hatcher (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) and Kendall Au (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex), 6-2.

The singles matches were highlighted by Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) winning the No. 2 match by dropping just two games, 6-1, 6-1 over Sam McGrath. Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) in No. 3 (6-3, 6-4) and Alexander Novins (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) in No. 5 (6-4, 6-4) were also straight sets winners.

The other two matches saw Bentley players rally for three set victories. Maurico Fadul (Key Biscayne, Fla.) in No. 4 after he dropped the first set 6-7, rallied for a 6-4, 10-4 victory. Jose Dalla Valle (Miami, Fla.) took the No. 6 match 5-7, 6-4, 10-1.

Bentley improved to 4-3 on the season with the win. The Florida trip continues tomorrow with an 8:00 am match against Bloomsburg.
