Bentley Falls to Cross Town Rival Brandeis 7-2

WALTHAM, Mass. – In its final non-conference match of the season, the Bentley men's tennis team fell to cross town rival Brandeis 7-2 at the Rieger Tennis Courts.

Bentley's points came in singles, from senior George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao) in No. 2 and freshman Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) in No. 4.

Samander defeated Jackson Kogan 6-2, 6-3, while Weitz had a hard earned victory over Tyler Ng in three sets. Ng won the first set 6-2 before Weitz rallied to win in the second set 7-5. The two then engaged in a 30 point third set tiebreaker, which Weitz won 16-14.

Junior Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) also went to three sets in No. 5, against Ethan Saal, who won the first set 6-4 before Gilman took the second set 6-4. Saal though won a 20 point third set tiebreak, 11-9.

The Falcons dropped 13-8 overall with the defeat. They return to Northeast-10 action tomorrow for the first of their final two matches of the regular season. That match is against Southern New Hampshire tomorrow, and they face Adelphi on Saturday.
