Bentley Advances in NE10 Championship with 5-1 Victory over Le Moyne

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley advanced to the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Men's Tennis Championship with a 5-1 victory over Le Moyne in the first round on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick) and sophomores Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) and Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) each won in both singles and doubles.

The Falcons, the No. 4 seed, will face top seed Southern New Hampshire in the semifinals on Thursday in Manchester, N.H. at 2:00 pm.

Bentley led 2-1 after doubles; the wins came in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, and won all three singles matches that finished. Those came in the No. 4-No. 6 positions.

In doubles, Rosa and Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) defeated Josh Sagaille and Jason Barton 8-4 in the No. 2 match, and Fuca and Gilman got the better of James Gayvert and Tyler Underwood in the No. 3 match by an 8-2 score.

With a 2-1 lead going into singles, Bentley needed three wins to clinch the match, and got each one in straight sets.

Rosa defeated Sagaille in the No. 4 match, 6-1, 7-5. Fuca defeated Barton in the No. 5 match by a 6-3, 6-4 score, and Gilman topped Steven Procopio in the No. 6 match, 6-1, 7-5.

The Falcons have now advanced to the NE10 semifinals for the 9th straight season, and the 16th time overall. The played Southern New Hampshire just last Friday, and lost a close 5-4 match.
